Beginner principle: Understand the mechanics and risks before buying. Knowing orders, settlement, and costs matters more than finding a hot tip.

Step 1: Have settlement cash ready

Before ordering, make sure the settlement account can hold enough cash by the broker’s required time. Execution creates a formal payment obligation.

Step 2: An order is not an execution

Entering symbol, side, price, quantity, and order conditions only submits an order. It executes only when market conditions match.

Step 3: Execution creates the trade

After execution, the broker reports the actual price and quantity. The execution price can differ from the last traded price you saw.

Step 4: Ordinary trades settle T+2

Taiwan cash-market ordinary trades settle on the second business day after the trade date.
